About
Gabriel Avis, who hails from Michigan, graduated from Kenyon College in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in Studio Art. While at Kenyon, he earned four varsity letters on the men’s lacrosse team and earned all-conference recognition his senior year as a goalie. Upon graduating from Kenyon, Gabriel spent the summer backpacking in Alaska with NOLS, which to this day sparks his passion for conserving and observing the environment. He was a teaching fellow at St. Paul's School in New Hampshire and finished his Master's in Education at The University of Pennsylvania in 2020. He currently serves as the Alfred C. Glassell, III '82 Chair for the Arts at Trinity-Pawling School in Pawling, NY.
Gabriel tends to work with all materials and blend media together. Most of his subject matter centers around human interaction with the environment and the blending of public and private lands. His images are taken throughout the continental United States but primarily in New England, Michigan, Montana, and Wyoming.
